You must be 18 years or older when submitting your application. There is no upper age limit for applicants.  

We invite students of bachelor’s and master’s programs, doctoral students, PhDs, those who are just starting their professional careers and entrepreneurs from all disciplines who meet at least one of the formal requirements:

• You are currently enrolled in a university program and/or are currently a postdoc,
• You received a Bachelor’s degree no more than 10 years ago (i.e. after 01/01/2012),
• You received a Master’s degree no more than 7 years ago (i.e. after 01/01/2015),
• You received a PhD no more than 5 years ago (i.e. after 01/01/2017).

An MD (medical degree excl. a doctoral dissertation) is considered equivalent to a Master’s degree, and Dr. med. (medical degree incl. a doctoral dissertation) is considered equivalent to a PhD.

Participating in a Falling Walls Lab is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. As such, once you take part in an international Lab, you are no longer eligible to apply for a future Lab.PhDs

Applications for participation in Falling Walls Lab Warsaw are assessed by a jury composed of representatives of academia and industry. The jury will take into account the motivation of applicants to participate in the event, the breakthrough factor of the proposed idea and the relevance/impact of the idea on the target group.

In making its final decisions, the jury considers gender ratios, the participants’ affiliation, and the research fields represented by the selected finalists. Only complete and eligible applications will be considered.

During the Falling Walls Lab Warsaw finals, which will take place on September 15 at the headquarters of the Warsaw University of Technology, the jury with the participation of representatives of academia and business will evaluate the presentations. The presentations will be judged according to the following criteria:

• Breakthrough factor (50%): How innovative is the proposed idea?
• Relevance/Impact (40%): How relevant is the idea to the discipline and beyond?
• Structure/Performance (10%): How convincing was the presentation?
